Summertime brings thoughts of lazy days in hammocks, a glass of cool lemonade (pink lemonade at our house) and a vacation or two. But for some adults, summertime can also be the perfect time to supplement their income or parlay their way into a new career!

With summer jobs more plentiful than they have been in the past few years, an increasing number of adults and retirees have begun working during the 'off season'. As experience has become even more important to hiring managers and corporations, that may not have training budgets or time to train, adult workers are a great resource for seasonal help.
For those adults looking to keep busy, do something different, or earn a little extra cash at a second job, a summer job may just be the answer. Of course, summer jobs are an American staple for many teenagers and recent grads, so make sure to pass the information along!
To begin the search for summer jobs check out: SeasonalEmployment.com, SnagAJob.com, SimplyHired.com and CoolWorks.com which lists seasonal jobs in interesting places throughout the United States.

Here is a list of the types of businesses and professions that often experience a boom in hiring during the summer:
Golf courses
Caterers
Bars and Clubs
Summer school teaching (for teachers of course)
Summer camps (there are so many different kinds of camps now from cooking to archery! Share your skills with kids or other adults!)
Federal summer jobs/internships
Lifeguards at: pools, beaches, gyms, camps
Pet-sitting/ Dog-walking
Nannies/ Babysitting / daycares
House-sitting
Movie theaters
Tourism jobs: guides, trip organizer, greeters
Museums
Annual local festivals
Photo studios
Rental agencies: boating, cars, trailers
Property Management
Ice Cream or small vendors
National Parks/Amusement parks
Camp ground guides
Event planning help
Bridal establishments
Medical and Dental clinics/ Pharmacies
Customer service centers/ call centers
Do you make a special craft or product - consider selling it at local events or online
Just a few ideas to think about if you find yourself considering temporary employment to add a little cash to your bottom-line this summer!
